I remember these in the Joemeek product brochure. I was hoping you could tell us a bit about it. For example, how does it differ to the VC3 (other than the obvious addition of a gate). Was it a precursor to the VC3? Cheers
February 15, 2015 at 10:11 am #15975No. The Hootersound B1 was a completely new design making use of a very interesting IC that combined a variable ratio compressor with a noise gate and a mic amp! The mic amp was not too good so I altered the circuitry around it and came up with the B1. We painted it yellow and called it Hootersound for a bit of a laugh, but it was a serious product and for a very specific purpose (commercial voice-over for example) it works very well.
I had a couple of them in a cupboard and put one of them on ebay this week.
