Hey, I have an opportunity to buy back my old VC-1, and I really loved the sound.

At the same time, I’m seeing the smaller “british channel” units available used for less money.

For pristine vocals and best signal path, should I stick with the VC-1, or will I see improvements in the extra features and updated hardware of the british channel?

    Thanks,

    J

The original VC1 had a transformer mic input. It was the same circuit as ‘the brick’. The British Channel was a later circuit using a solid state mic amp. The later circuit is very good but it does not have the same ‘gloss’ that the earlier one had!

I would recommend sticking to the earlier one if you can…. although I would be happy using either as high quality channels. :D
