I have the VC3…. The fault was the mic amp chip blown. This was probably caused by the failure of one of the input capacitors at some time, this can cause the destruction of the input stage; and that’s what happened here. I have replaced the chip and it is now as good as new.

The fix cost is my standard UK£25 ‘fix it’ charge plus the cost of returning the unit to Florida, so make it UK£36 and that will do fine.
